USMC marathon 2019

Beschermde donatie
My name is Rick Webb, I am a British Army veteran, I served a total of 14 years, in this time I deployed on 2 tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The latter being my last active duty, as I sustained life changing injuries after stepping on an IED (improvised explosive device) in the summer of 2012.

As such I am now an above knee single leg amputee (left leg) and have a multitude of other injuries which added to the reasons as to why I was medically discharged from the military in September 2018.

I am a person who loves a challenge and thrives under pressure, so my next goal is to be running in and complete the USMC marathon in Washington DC this October, to help raise funds and awareness for some much needed subjects such as mental health and reintroducing veterans into the civilian world.

I have taken on this challenge as I strongly believe in helping fellow veterans and also as a personal challenge to myself. Previously I have competed for GB in para-powerlifting and also stepped into the world of disabled bodybuilding.

This for me is a whole new challenge and one that I am hugely excited for, not only for personal reasons, but mainly because of the huge coverage it offers, which in turn will help immensely with raising awareness and much needed funds.
