Rick Prowett Leukemia Fund

Dear Friends and family.  My name is Erica Geller and on October 30th, 2017 my boyfriend and best friend, Rick Prowett, started Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. We were hoping he would tolerate the treatment pretty well since he is a strong guy, but that was not the case. By the end of the week, I rushed him to the hospital with bone pain, a fever of 104 and Pneumonia. He has been in the hospital for a week now.

Rick and I met 5 years ago. We both worked at an IT Support help desk and became fast friends. He made me laugh so much that we had to be separated like two rowdy kids at the back of the class. He showed me that life could be fun. We both went through rough separations from our spouses at different times and leaned on each other for support. He made my life whole again…and FUN! Now we are together and I can’t imagine my life without him.  My heart is breaking more each day that I watch him suffer in excruciating pain and struggling to breathe. I want to take it all away and can’t and It is such a helpless feeling.

We have five more Chemo treatments over the next five months and we have no idea what other side effects he will have. We are fortunate that he has insurance but he has a $5000.00 annual deductible. He owes $3000.00 now and climbing and it will reset January 1st, just in time for the second half of his treatment. We are both losing time at work, as he has needed a lot of care, and this is just the first two weeks. We are worried about his health and scared that we won’t be able to pay our bills. I really want Rick to be able to focus on fighting though this and not worry about the money. I love him so much. I can’t make him better, but I can do this. I can ask you all; please help us get through this! Anything you can give would be so appreciated!
