Rick Newcomer Memorial Fund

The morning of September 6, 2018 was like every other morning in downtown Cincinnati. People were going about their normal morning routine during the beautiful clear morning when suddenly gun shots rang out around Fountain Square.  Four minutes of chaos ensued during which a lone gunman seriously injured two people and took the lives of three others.  If it was not for the brave and heroic actions of the Cincinnati Police more people would have been harmed.

One of the three people killed was my step-father Rick Newcomer.   Rick was the kindest, most gentle person you could meet.  He was a big kid at heart and always put others before himself.    At the time of his passing Rick was a husband, a father, and a grandfather who was the foundation of our family, providing both emotional and financial support.  In addition to providing for my mom, he was also financially assisting my youngest sister, a single mom to three young children, while she was attending nursing school.

During this emotionally trying time, the last thing I want my mom to worry about is how she is going to pay bills and the unexpected expenses that have resulted due to Rick's passing.  She needs to focus on grieving the unexpected and sudden loss of her husband of almost 37 years. 

I am setting up this Go Fund Me account to help offset the financial impact my mom is experiencing.  Any money raised will go directly to her to help with groceries, bills, and other costs that have arisen due to Rick's untimely death. 

Our friends, community, and the people of Cincinnati have shown our family such kindness and concern that words fail to appropriately express our gratitude.  We ask that you continue to send kind thoughts and encouragement to all the families directly affected by this tragedy and share in the joy we feel as the two people seriously injured in this horrific event continue down the road to recovery.
