The community of Richmond has great and talented kids whom for the most part come from low-income families. Kids in our community are in dire need of extracurricular activities and sometimes it’s hard for parents to provide the time and activity for them. Recently an opportunity arose to continue to expand these activities for a few students. Which then leads me to ask for your HELP.
I am Saul Velasquez, a soccer coach for the team Richmond Lobos 07 Boys under the Richmond United Soccer Club. I have volunteered many hours, days, and years of my life to ensure that kids have a better opportunity to succeed and stay away from the streets. Richmond has great talent waiting to be developed and this can be accomplished with time, (that I am willing to provide), commitment from parents and at this time MONEY that they do not have.
ThreePlayers from my team have been provided with the opportunity to further develop their soccer skills by participating at the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and were exclusively selected from a large pool of talented players from all of Northern California. Being selected only proves that Richmond has great talent, but I would like to ask for your help to ensure we can financially send our kids as it involves a high cost per player.
Each player will need to pay at least 1,500 to travel to Arizona and participate on the ODP. Coming from low-income households at the moment parents are unable to register their talented kids due to the high fees involved. I am hopeful that with the help of individuals like yourself, we will be able to raise a total of 6,000 to send each of our selected players and provide some additional support for parents for things like uniforms or additional fees required by the league.
