Richie's Chemo Treatment Fund

My husband, Richie, has always been nothing but a genuinely Good Guy. He always volunteered or helped in any way he physically could: painting people's houses, doing handyman work, driving friends to their oncologists, was a mentor & merit badge counselor for the Boy Scout Troop for over 15 years, and worked on our church's volunteer work crew and hurricane repair crew. We never had lots of money to donate so we donated our time in most cases.

Then, on July 2, 2010 he dropped to floor in front of me at Winn-Dixie while shopping for July 4th! He had a Hemorrhagic Stroke- a Brain Bleed. He had to have brain surgery and nearly three months in rehab.  He was left disabled. I was told to put him in a nursing home.

I quit my job to stay home and be his caregiver. Within the first 18 months we had to claim bankruptcy. So, we adjusted to our new life and live within our means. We also depended a lot on the generosity of friends and family. By the third year I began to get my own social security income and we have been getting along in life enjoying our granddaughter who was born after his stroke. She is six now and the apple of her Pop-Pop's eye.

Now-- seven years after his debilitating stroke that took Richie's independence from him -- he has been diagnosed with Lymphoma! Oh My God!!  I just can't believe it! What did he ever do in his life that was so bad that he deserves this? Huh? NOTHING!!

We're already broke. And have to pay out of pocket co pays of nearly $1,200 a session. The oncologist said he's to start with 6 sessions/treatments. One time a week (we start next Friday the 6th of October) and he goes every three weeks. He explained that he feels lymphoma is mostly treatable and has an 80% remission rate.

Richie has stated that he wants to 'try'. He told me the next day after the diagnosis: "Im not giving up Lin, please don't give up on me".

So, here I am, in tears, asking for help in funding his Chemotherapy and attending costs involved.

Absolutely Anything you can give will be appreciated.

Thank You,
