Richie's Fall Farm-Raiser

OGIC 1st Annual Richie's Fall Farm-Raiser. Starting September 11th-October 19th 4 years ago, we turned the machine off and witnessed my brother's transition from earth. I felt his heartbeat fade and watched him take his last breaths. Back in 2014 Richie, 19 years old, was shot several times in Chicago. He was left paralyzed from the neck down. He lived....no he suffered for 15 months. I was angry and depressed. I did everything right. I got out the "hood," went to elite institutions and got degrees, volunteered for AmeriCorps, traveled the world, and got a good paying job. But I was unhappy. The work was unfulfilling and my brothers, yes more than one, were being shot in Chicago. The media says it's gang related but it's systemic oppression. I quit my job and got lost in the woods to heal mentally, spiritually, and find liberation. In Richie's death I birth Off Grid In Color*. Its mission is to lead others to greater self sufficiency through farm-raised meat, doula services and community outreach. The purpose of Richie's fall annual Farm-Raiser is to primarily raise funds for OGIC's Meat Boutique. The funds will be used to wrap up the remainder farming activities for the year and get a jump start on next year's farming season. The goal is to raise $5k. Secondly, this farm-raiser will shed light mental health matters, violence, systemic oppression and how we can all get lost in the woods to find liberation. We all are farmers and more. This Farm-Raiser will officially begin (using GoFundMe) on my birthday 9/11 and conclude on Richie's birthday 10/19. Contribute what you can. Every dollar counts! Will you support?
