Richelle Hardy - Severe Motorcycle Accident

Donation protected
On July 26th 2020, at approximately 4:20pm, Richelle Leah Hardy(27) was the victim of a severe motorcycle accident, when her self-proclaimed 'Iron Pony' (Harley Davidson Sportster) collided with a Chevrolet Equinox that pulled out from a stop sign into her right of way. After being rushed to Bowmanville Hospital for immediate assessment, she was transported to the Trauma Centre @ St Michael's Hospital, in Downtown Toronto.

Richelle is an avid motorcycle rider, dog-mom to her beloved Great-Dane Jewels, and a proud Ironworker Apprentice with Local 721. Prior to taming her 'Iron Pony', she was an avid horse racer, finding peace in taming her companion, Pirate. She's a fighter through and through, having overcome so much already in her life, and was happily back at the gym for the first time since the COVID shutdown just hours before the accident. Looking to a promising fresh start in the pursuit of a new home over the course of the days leading up to this tragedy, it comes with a heavy heart to realize the extent of her injuries.

She suffers a collapsed lung, a severely open-fractured pelvis, an open-fractured left elbow, shattered wrist, and overall severe bodily trauma. She has undergone exhaustive surgery and is currently in a medically induced coma, and supported with a breathing tube. Under her strong animated exterior, those who know her personally know she is a wonderful and passionate young woman, that will put herself on the line to care for those around her.

Since the start of building her career(after a pivotal shift from her past as a bartender), she would smile ear to ear when she'd talk of her hard work-ethic, connecting/bolting Iron and tying rebar. She has never stopped preaching her love for the Sisterhood/Brotherhood  that she has felt in the trades. She's loved her motorcycle, riding it any chance she got, rain or shine- learning to wrench on it herself, pushing through with tenacity, enduring the inevitable frustration and cursing that comes with learning from scratch. She has always loved the Local Music scene, and for years has frequented the Rehearsal Factory in Oshawa, and built life-long friendships there with those who have shown her unconditional acceptance. Very few who have had the privilege of meeting her could forget the sensational energy she radiates when she enters the room. Just the same, those who picked on her friends wouldn't forget her either. She has always looked out for those she has felt have been loyal to her.

Due to complications resulting from the governments COVID-19 shutdown, there are even further complications that bring forward the importance of the communities she loves to come together and show her support through recovery. She has always quietly done the same for those suffering similar in the past.

A complicated, but loving young woman, full of potential- who now more than ever, needs to be reminded that she's strong, loved, and can overcome. Will overcome. For Richelle: a daughter, a sister, a lover, an advocate for the motorcycle community, the Ironworker and trades community, the music scene, and a woman HellBent on changing her stars.

(Due to the severe extent of her injuries, it is currently unknown what her mobility and quality of life will be. It is unknown when she will return to work, and in what capacity. She has a long road ahead of her. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.)
