Hey there. We've created this page to help support Gap (Richard J. Galvan) on his road to recovery.
Gap was in a serious dirtbike accident Sunday January 18th. He was hit head-on by a four person ATV.
Gap was treated on-site for a punctured lung, and then took a flight-for-life to a nearby hospital, where he received immediate trauma surgery.
His spleen was ruptured and had to be removed.
He has since had two additional surgeries:
One to place a rod in his arm-- which was broken in four places (and which will require subsequent surgeries.)
Another to remove a kidney due to damage from the accident; it was beyond repair.
Gap has been in the intensive care unit since Sunday, and will remain in the hospital for some time. He has been heavily sedated and intubated due to his lung injury.
Gap is great--He would do ANYTHING, for anyone. He's fun-loving, funny, thoughtful, and an all around stellar guy. We wanted to set up this page to show him a little support on his road to recovery, as we know it will be challenging...and help him get back to his "old self," ASAP! He of course has no idea we're doing this for him; anyone who knows Gap knows he'd never ask for a thing.
We appreciate more than you know all of the love, prayers and positive thoughts you have all sent his way thus far--they have helped tremendously, and he is making great progress, despite what he has been through. Please keep those coming! His team of doctors and nurses are quite pleased with his progress; especially considering where he was on Sunday.
