10/10/17- Richard Edward Marshall (Rick), age 67, of Zebulon, NC, passed away on October 9, 2017, due to cancer.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 12 at 11:00 am at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon. Reverend Glenn Wilson of Crossroads Church in Zebulon will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Massey Funeral Home.
Rick was born in Bedford, Indiana, on June 9, 1950. He graduated from Mitchell High School and continued on to receive a Master’s degree in Horticulture from Eastern Kentucky University. He later received a Doctorate in Divinity. Rick worked as a landscape architect for 40+ years and had a great love for using nature to bring beauty into the lives of his clients. He enjoyed traveling and meeting new friends. He never met a stranger and had a zest for life that positively influenced everyone he met.
Rick is survived by his wife Colombina Soekardi Marshall; daughters Courtney Nicole Cornwright (Brett) and Heidi Marshall Kline (Jesse); sons Richard Cody Marshall, Colton Christjon Marshall, and Wyatt Chancellor Marshall; brothers Henry Marshall and Marlin Marshall; and grandchildren Fiona Kline, Breeana Cornwright, and Zane Cornwright. Rick is preceded in death by his parents George Edward Marshall and Dorothy Brands Marshall.
