Richard Harvey Medical Relief Help

Donation protected
Richard Harvey has been in and out of hospitals since late August. The Dr. told him he would have to have surgery to correct the problem with his intestines and that they could do no more for him in the Woodlands. He would have to go to their facility in the Texas Medical Center.  Richard checked into the Memorial Hermann Hospital on November 16th to have a complicated laposcopic surgery that he and his wife Debra expected, at worst case scenario, might be 10 to 15 days. He was only supposed to be in the Hospital for 4 days. It is now Dec 30th and he is still in ICU in the fight for his life.

During the first surgery they nicked an artery which lead to his losing 6 pints of blood and requiring a surgery to repair. After that surgery he went in to sepsis shock.  He has been back in the OR 3 times a week to have a wound vac to clear up all the infection. All the anesthesia he has received during all the procedures has left him delusional and not thinking clearly.

Richard will have a very long recovery once out of hospital and will most likely never work again. His wife told us that they were not prepared for the possibility of him not being able to return to work. Debra has depleted all their savings and property tax fund and is now in the race for her life to get their social security retirement funds started. It could take several months to get started. Meanwhile they have no income to support them, or money to travel back and forth to the Texas Medical Center from the Woodlands, which is about 40 miles of terrible traffic and $20 a day to park. Debra tries to see him at least 5 days a week but it is getting more difficult with funds dwindling.

Our goal is to raise $9,000 to help their family survive until their pensions are started. As everyone knows most of the available help in that area is stressed helping the flood victims. We are hoping by starting this fund it will help them survive until they can get his retirements and social security income set up. HELP is needed for our loved one and dear friend. Even if you can’t contribute please keep Richard in your prayers as he is still in a delicate condition.
