About Richard Evans:

Richard was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1972. At the age of 43 Richard Evans met Myra, the love of his life, in March of 2015 online. In, 2016 he decided moved to Philippines to marry the woman he loved, and  get his permanent residence because he loved the weather and wanted to be with his wife.

Last year, in 2019 he had to undergo umbilical surgery due to chronic coughing. This caused him to lose his job. It was hard enough to earn money there, but they thought that all their problems would stop there. In 2020, the COVID 19 pandemic hit the world causing many hospitals to fill and have limited space. In March 2020  Richard was diagnosed with Liver Cirrhosis Acites. He quickly developed swollen legs and a swollen stomach. A month later, his wife decided it was best that they put in a tube to try and drain the excess fluid in his body, but due to the pandemic it was hard to go to the hospital, and try and find available  appointment times. As days passed, he became weaker, he slowly stopped eating, and would only take fluids as his source of food.
Richard was able to get an appointment in September 2020 for an ultrasound and blood test. The results were not good, and Richard would constantly complain that he was in pain all the time and with his limited food intake he was losing weight quickly. He became very lethargic and weak.

His wife Myra believed that the best chance for him to survive was to go back to Canada. So on Thursday, October 20 she immediately booked a ticket for him to fly back  to Canada on November 5. On October 25, in the afternoon Richard tried to stand up, and collapsed on the floor while Myra was at work. Her friend that was watching Richard called her to come home immediately. When she arrived home she called the ambulance, and they brought him to the hospital. He was put in the isolated ICU for 4 days , but because the cost of privatized health care in the Philippines is expensive and the ICU rooms were fully booked past the 4 days they moved him to a temporary room until a room in the ICU was available.
After another check up, the doctor told Myra to brace herself for the worst. Richards liver and kidneys were failing, his intestines were bleeding, and he was going into acute respiratory failure, and started to develop more and more complications as the days passed. In total, his hospital bills came to $20,000 CAD, and the doctors did their best to save him.

We are saddened by Richard passing on November 2, 2020. His family's wishes are to bring his ashes back to Canada to have a proper funeral.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Myra, his mother, Shirley, his son, Tyler, and his daughter, Courtney, and many of his cousins, uncles, and aunts.
We were very glad Myra tried her best to keep him healthy, and appreciate everything she did for him.

Our goal is to help Myra pay for the hospital costs as they will not release his ashes to her until the hospital bills are paid in full!
Anything is appreciated and we thank everyone so much!
