Let's Keep Rich in His Home

My name is C.D. Nelson and I am putting this together for a very good friend, RICH ACKERMAN, who is in great need of financial and spiritual help at this time. If you are unable to make a financial contribution, please keep him in your prayers. A few other of Rich’s close friends are helping me with this because they know what he has been going through medically, financially and emotionally.   Unfortunately, Rich doesn’t have any other options, therefore we are sharing his story….

Rich is a single parent with four beautiful children.  He has been through quite a lot in the past few years.   Health issues have arisen and gotten progressively worse over time.  The health issues alone have caused great stress.  He was recently informed at the last admission to Loma Linda University Medical Center that he needs a colon resection to resolve chronic bleeding, infection and related symptoms he has been fighting for several years now.  While dealing with the health problems he has tried to maintain a basic standard of living and be the wonderful father his family and friends know him to be.

Rich attempted to seek temporary assistance from San Bernardino County Social Services, but was only given a list of homeless shelters, information on end of life decisions, and information on how to get psychiatric medications.  Although there are some days it is difficult to move around, he had been working manual labor to try to make a living.  He does not want to accept welfare benefits.  He wants to get better, get back to a fulltime work schedule, and pay his fair share of taxes.  When he was healthy, he was pleased to serve as the President of the Mt. San Jacinto College Foundation, worked with the Public Service Law Center as a volunteer attorney and board member, served for several unplanned pregnancy clinics as a fundraiser or board member, and received the Wylie Manuel Award from the California State Bar several times for completing hundreds of hours of pro bono service for those in need.  He never thought he would find himself in such need, but here he is after losing his family, business, home, car, and income.  However, he still believes fully in the human spirit, charity, and giving back.

Rich has never been able to fully recover medically and financially from his health issues.  He is way behind on the necessary expenses such as monthly rent. He lost his car a couple of weeks ago because he couldn’t afford to pay for registration and recently ended up in the hospital for nearly a month (three separate admissions).

His needs at this time are fairly simple….

A used vehicle, for employment and to attend medical appointments;
3-6  month’s rent  (@$1,000.00 per month)  considering he will be hospitalized again for a colon resection surgery and recovery;
Incidental income to pay for medication, utilities, phone, gas, insurance and feeding his children when he has them with him.  The cost for these items is about $1,500.00 for the upcoming few months prior to and after receiving medical treatment for his medical conditions.
Our goal is to raise money to get Rich back on his feet while he takes care of necessary medical treatments.  NO CONTRIBITION IS TOO SMALL.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. References are available as to the details of his situation from reputable friends who have been with him for much of this unexpected ride in life and know his situation first hand.  Rich can also give information including his landlady’s contact information and verification of his medical situation.

Thank you for anything you can do and I know Rich will  do the same for others when he is up and running at full speed.

Also, if interested, there is beautiful artwork for sale that Rich has painted himself.

We hope you can find it in your heart to help our friend Rich as he tries to take care of his family and his health. Again no contribution is too small.

Thank you again for your consideration and prayers.
