Send the Rich's to Ghana, Africa!

I am the Senior Vice President in charge of daily operations at Siloam Missionary Homes in Snow Camp, NC. I am over the 14 homes and several other buildings here. Abbey tries to work with the missionary moms to help get set up with doctors, hospitals, homeschooling groups, schools in the area and even where the closest Wal-Mart or where to get their hair cut! We want to know exactly how to minister to these families when they are here on furlough, sabbatical, initial fund raising, transition etc.

Abbey was so unexpectedly blessed this year to serve on a mission’s trip to Spain with another ministry for 10 days! What an amazing trip she had and was able to see God move! It was a blessing for her to meet and work along-side a few other missionaries she didn’t even know. This trip got us to thinking if we are able to visit our missionaries overseas and help them in THEIR ministries, it will allow us to know how better to serve them and meet their needs when they are here at Siloam!


Abbey & I have never been on a mission’s trip overseas together and our kids want so badly to serve overseas with their missionary kid friends. The constant good-byes has become increasingly difficult for our 3 kids, Macie, Preston and David. It seems that every time we ‘lose’ a family our kids go into ‘seclusion’ and it’s so difficult for them to allow their hearts to let new friends in. The possibility for our family to serve together as well as let our kids understand overseas missionary kids life would be awesome!


We are asking the Lord to allow us to go to Ghana, Africa to minister with some missionaries who have stayed at Siloam 3 different furloughs. They have a son who is ‘best friends’ with our boys and have opened an orphanage called Beacon House for up to 40 children. Our daughter, Macie has shown a desire to work in an orphanage when she grows up and this seems like a perfect opportunity.


We will be working at the Beacon House helping with the children there, as well as working on their new property, helping finish their chicken houses, putting up shelves in the boys home, VBS type ministries and encouraging our faithful missionary friends, the Cline family! I’m sure there are many more things we will be helping with as well.


We plan to go for a little more than a week in August of this year. We need about $7,000 for airfare, although airfare has gone up this week. Abbey is trying to babysit and sell cheesecakes etc. to help raise funds in addition to us trying to ‘squirrel’ away money to put into the fund. I am doing some side work after hours as well to help save money. Please consider helping us by praying for us, and also financially to send us to Ghana. If we take in more than what we need for airfare, we will give it as a gift towards the missionaries in Ghana and the Beacon House ministry.
