The South’s Biggest Holiday Shopping Spree Giveback is in 7 days!
Operation Christmas Giveback 2022 is the 5th Annual Shopping Spree Giveaway that includes a financial literacy boot camp for each child and has blessed over 260 underserved kids in the city of Memphis.
2022 has brought record high inflations for food, gas, and household necessities. Economic restoration has been steady yet slow for families already below the poverty line before the pandemic. Inflation spikes are at a record high for this holiday season nationwide; we are seeing a need now more than ever to make the holiday special for children in families living in under served communities. The Rice Foundation (URBNTherapy) a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is asking that you join 501(c)3 CB Seed Foundation and share this fundraiser with your network. Your contributions will continue our positive program impact, currently in its 5th year…
Year 1 (2018) - 10 students
Year 2 (2019) - 28 students
Year 3 (2020) - 79 students
Year 4 (2021) - 150 kids
Year 5 (2022) - 75 Kids (300 students participation in financial literacy bootcamp and hygiene kits)
Your contributions help with providing each child with:
-Virtual (or in person) financial literacy boot camp
-$250 gift card for holiday shopping
-Breakfast the morning of the Christmas giveback
-Lunch the day of the Christmas giveback
-COVID tests and background checks for volunteers
-Transportation for the students
You can sponsor a child for $400 which covers everything listed above and transportation insurance for the buses.
Whether you donate $5, $500, $5,000 or just share this fundraiser, your efforts are needed and appreciated. You can check out photos and videos from previous years’ surprise shopping sprees to see where all your efforts are applied below. We truly cannot make this happen without your consideration and donations.
Why Memphis, TN?
A recent study by the Memphis city government (June 30, 2021) uncovered these startling statistics:
29.8 percent of Memphis residents lived below the poverty line
47 percent of children in Memphis were living in poverty
191,609 of the population in Memphis lived on less than the federal poverty level
As a point of comparison, Memphis ranks number 2 in the childhood poverty rate for cities with 1,000,000 or less residents, lagging only slightly behind the beleaguered city of New Orleans.
**All children and volunteers will be COVID tested, and temperature checked, masks will be provided, and distancing will be practiced in all locations, including bus transportation.**
Our goal is to show these amazing kids a wonderful holiday season and create a safe, healthy, loving environment of mentorship and a display giving spirits that has no limits. We want these children to know they are loved, considered, and never forgotten about in this season.
Organized by tv personality, host, founder of the Rice Foundation/URBNTherapy (www.urbntherapy.org), and cast member of MTV's Floribama Shore, Candace Rice (www.candacerenee.com); who partners with Black Panther actress/stunt woman, producer, and philanthropist; Carrie Bernans (cbseed.org)
