Ricardo's Stem Cell Treatments

Donation protected

For the past 16 years, 38 year old Ricardo Robinson – and by extension, his family – have been suffering from the effects of multiple sclerosis (MS), a disease many have heard of through the general ether, but few (thankfully) are experienced with first-hand. The primary damage is done to the nervous system, thereby preventing the afflicted from performing basic motor functions, worsening over time as the myelin in our brain degrades. While that is the science, Ricardo is the face of its effects.

A former standout football player at the University of Houston and self-proclaimed dominos champion, Ricardo was diagnosed with cancer while attending school. The cancer, while treatable, triggered his bout with MS, a hereditary condition his mother also deals with daily.

While the frustrations have compounded, Ricardo has managed to raise his son Duice in exemplary fashion, demonstrating the fortitude needed to get through the most difficult of times. Now, this family man needs our help.

With recent technological advances, there is a chance for a positive shot on goal in treating this affliction. Stem cell treatments have been touted by the National MS Society as offering potential for improvements in patients who have exhausted other modes of treatment (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Research/Research-News-Progress/Stem-Cells-in-MS#section-0). Given the experimental nature of the procedures, insurance companies have yet to develop a codified way of covering most stem cell innovations. As such, we are reaching out to you, the individual donor, in hopes of raising the $30,000 needed to give Ricardo and his family renewed hope for a new lease on life.
