Rhys's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
***Please help my nephew Rhys*** In October 2020 we as a family had the worst news you can ever be given,  Rhys my 18 year old nephew was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma a rare bone cancer in his right hip. Before the diagnosis Rhys was a fun loving young man enjoying life, going out with friends, earning his own money, having weekends away and just generally loving life until the day we had the news. Now all Rhys has to look forward to is hospital stays, appointments, chemotherapy and eventually leading to a hip replacement. Rhys has an 8 year old brother 'Charlie' whos life has also been turned upside down through all this and having to deal with the news of his big brother. Charlie is struggling to understand and cope with the upset and changes that are going on around him. Rhys has always been an independent young man and this horrid disease has taken it all from him. He has lost all independence due to not being able to walk. He has had to give up driving and his means of earning his own money. He has to rely on his parents to do everything for him from bathing and dressing to everyday things that we take for granted. Both my sister and brother-in-law have not only had to deal with the news that no parent ever wants to hear but they have had to continue to stay strong for both Rhys and Charlie in order to keep as much normality for Charlie as possible when all they really want to do is wake up from this horrific nightmare.  Rhys has appointments back and forth Birmingham Royal Orthopedic hospital and the teenage cancer unit for chemotherapy and treatment.  We as a family are having to deal with the news along with having to see my sister and brother-in-law try and stay as strong as possible for both Rhys and Charlie when we know they are in the worst pain a parent can feel, and knowing there is nothing I as a sister can do to help or take the pain away is so hard.

We would like to raise money to relive the financial stress that comes with this nightmare due to not being able to work, travel and overnight stay expenses etc. and also for Rhys and his family to have a holiday of a lifetime  when Rhys is fit and able too.

I would like to take the time to Thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to read our story and hope that you find someway of helping them as I know this would be a huge weight lifted so they are able to solely concentrate on Rhys's recovery.
