Hi everyone,
My name is Daryl, and I'm one of the volunteer coaches for a fantastic local Under 8s football team, Rhyl Hearts Athletic.
Like many things in life, our team got its start from a simple family moment. Back in the summer of 2023, my son, Dexter, took a real interest in football. Wanting to give him and other local kids a chance to play, learn, and have fun, a few of us came together and Rhyl Hearts Athletic was born.
We had a brilliant first year watching the kids fall in love with the game. Then, last summer, my own son decided that football wasn't for him anymore. It's a moment many parents face, and while I was sad he wouldn't be on the pitch, I had made a commitment – not just to him, but to the amazing group of boys who now wear the Rhyl Hearts badge with pride. I promised myself and the team that I would see this through for as long as I possibly could.
That promise has been the best I've ever made.
Over the last two years, this team has become a little family. My fellow volunteer coaches, Rob and Jaedon, and I have had the privilege of watching these boys go from strength to strength. They've developed incredible skills, but more importantly, they've grown in confidence, learned the value of teamwork, and built lasting friendships.
As a team run entirely by volunteer coaches and parents, everything we provide for the boys comes from fundraising and the generosity of our community. Our core belief has always been to give this group of lads the best possible experience in grassroots football – to create memories they will cherish for years to come.
To do that, we rely on your support. The funds we hope to raise will go directly towards the boys and will help us cover costs for things like:
- Player of the Match Medals: A small but vital way to recognise effort and boost morale each week.
- Training Equipment: Replacing worn-out footballs, bibs, and replenishing the first-aid kit.
- Tournament Entry Fees: Giving the team the exciting opportunity to compete in local tournaments and festivals, making memories together.
- A Team Christmas Party: If we raise enough, we'd love to give them a small party to celebrate together off the pitch.
Every single pound donated is an investment in these brilliant local lads. It's a chance to keep them active, happy, and part of something positive. Any donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference to us and to them.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We, and all the boys in the Rhyl Hearts Athletic Under 8s team, are incredibly grateful for your support.
Warmest regards,
Daryl, Rob, and Jaedon
Coaches, Rhyl Hearts Athletic
