Rhonda's Cobra Insurance for 1 year

Rhonda was diagnosed with recurrent colon cancer in December 2016.  She had surgery to hopefully remove it all but it did not.  So she would need chemotherapy. Before her chemo started she was back in the hospital with an obstruction in her bowel, narrowly avoiding another surgery, she recovered and soon began chemo.  Her regimine was 12 cycles of chemo needed, once every 2 weeks.  She tried a few times  to come back to work (Oncology RN) during her chemo but could not endure the fast paced often stressful and demanding needs required, even dropping from full time to part time.  One cycle was pushed back because her blood counts were to low to receive chemo so this just delayed her recovery even longer. She has applied for disability but was turned down.   She finished chemo in mid July and did return to work part time.  A post chemo pet scan revealed that her cancer did not respond to the chemo.  She has 2 new spots on her lung, too small to light up on the scan and  a new cancer spot on her liver. An MRI on Monday  would reveal the old liver spot was likely active as well.  She is scheduled for a liver resection and ablation  August 15 to remove this cancer.  To make matters worse she fell at home on Monday (the day of her MRI) and broke her wrist, having to have surgery with plates/screws. AND after 34 1/2 years  of dedicated service at the hospital, on Tuesday they let her go!!!  She will have to go on Cobra ($1463.00/month) to maintain her much needed insurance but has no income now.  Her husband has been on  disability for the last 2 years. I'm hoping that your generosity will help cover her need to maintain coverage for 1 year. She will need more chemo and probably radiation once she has recovered from her surgery next week.   Our prayers are that 1 year from now this will all be behind her and that she may  even be back to work.
