Update:  Saturday, March 10th, Rhonda passed away at her home surrounded by friends and family.  While we try to piece back together our broken  hearts, we need to take a moment to Thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, kind words and donations.  They are GREATLY appreciated.  She truly was the best Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt and Friend, she will FOREVER be missed.

My sister Rhonda Bakken is a strong, giving, wonderful wife, daughter, sister and mother of 5 awesome kids, AND, she is excited for her first grandbaby to arrive in April, just a few days before her own birthday.

Below is her journey the last few months:
In September of 2017 Rhonda began having stomach flu-like symptoms.   Doctors randomly removed pounds of fluid from her abdomen to relieve tremendous pressure and allow her to eat, and continuing tests to find a diagnosis.  While in the hospital in Sioux Falls, SD in October, she was diagnosed with Cancer of an Unknown Origin and they were unable to determine where the cancer was coming from.  After 3 rounds of chemo (each at Sioux Falls) it appeared the symptoms were lessening.  She was able to eat, go to basketball games and we had a FANTASTIC Christmas.
Soon after, the symptoms fired up again and more testing determined she has abdominal cancer.  Doctors started her on a different chemotherapy program and started the infusions in mid-January and will continue every 15 days.  Thankfully, she gets to be home between treatments.

She recently was in the Spencer hospital and given fluids to help with extreme weakness.  She was transferred to Sioux Falls where they found a blood clot in her lung and leg.  She is now at home.  The medical expenses continue to build-up along with every day bills and expenses.  It is also necessary to add a shower to the existing bathtub on the main floor of their house.

We are asking for your continued prayers and donations.  Fighting cancer is an extremely emotional rollercoaster and it is my hope that if we can help ease the financial stress, Rhonda and her familly can rest a little easier and worry about what most important...her beating cancer.

From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU for praying for her and her family and any support is VERY much appreciated.
