Hey friends!
My name is Charlie Peddle and I perform as Rhett Slutler! I'm scheduled to have Top Surgery December 2nd in Montreal and I would be very excited except a LOT has happened in the 5 years since I began my journey. I was really hoping I could just figure this out on my own, but I haven't and now my surgery could be in question.
This year especially, has made this dream scarier, more expensive and physically riskier. The pandemic greatly effected my ability to do my job or anything else that could have helped financially. I have also become single, meaning i have no wiggle room at all, have a different travel companion and will need to isolate away from our partners and roommates. I now won't have a car for the latter part of healing either, which brings more potential expenses.
As well as these things, I've also been sick. I am still in the midst of recovery and diagnosis for an emergency surgery I had August 11th after my kidney had become septic. I then had another followup surgery September 12th. This means I will need to stay at least an extra night and will need several preventative medical appointments in the next couple of weeks. I'm not in the shape I wish I was but I am also determined to feel the weight off my chest, as soon as I can.
COVID19 has brought a lot of barriers and regulations that most who have gone to GRS Montreal did not have to stress about. My companion (Maxie) and I need to take as many precautions as we can before we fly, aren't allowed to leave the hotel, I have to go to surgery by myself, isolating 2 weeks post op in Halifax etc. On top of these things the clinic and MSI have informed us that if either of us develop any covid type symptoms while we are there we will be required to stay (in the expensive Hotel) for 14 days and none of those expenses will be covered.
So, the total I am trying to raise includes funds that will be transferable if they don't need to be used (emergency funds) and also at minimum what I am reimbursed from MSI (my flights). I've attached a photo of my basic budget break down and have a supplies list a well if anyone would like to view it as well.
