Rheayas hope

Hi I am Annelise lacasse and I recently just had my daughter Rheaya Marie Henault on July 24th 2018. I have two other children and a fiancé Kyle Henault. Everything went well during my pregnancy and we thought there were no issues. We were happy we were going to have 3 beautiful healthy daughters!  The day she was born everything seemed great she was a  perfect chunky little girl weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces little did we know there was a problem. After 24 hours she did not have her first Bowel movement like all babies should , after 30 hours she started to throw up green which indicated there was something wrong. she was rushed to the nicu at women and infants. I didn’t know what was wrong with my baby I couldn’t stop crying. She had x rays and ultrasounds  that night and the doctors said she had a blockage in her intestines and in the morning she would go in for surgery. The morning came and she went in for the surgery they said it would take about and hour or two it was going on 4 hours when the surgeon came in the waiting room. There was a look on her face I knew something wasn’t right. She pulled up a chair and started to explain that the surgery didn’t go as planned rheaya was okay but when they went in to “unblock” this blockage there was not a blockage something else was wrong but she didn’t know what, they took a piece of her intestines and sent it for a biopsy it came back that she had Hirschsprung disease. Which means her colon does not work, in the womb between 4 and 12 weeks her large instestine never developed the nerves it needed to develop. And her small instestine only has a very small part that works. This resulted in them having to give her a stoma which means she has a colostomy bag and that’s how she expresses her bowels. At first we were lost for words it was all just a big shock because we thought we had a perfectly healthy baby which in every other way she is, you would never be able to tell something was wrong. She then got a pick line so she could get tpn nutrients through that. It’s been a couple weeks now and they are saying we will be here for a couple months at least. We tried to start feedings but she didn’t want to take a bottle she doesn’t want anything in her mouth no bottle nor pacifier. I’ve been pumping so she can get the best nutrients. Finally they started a feeding tube through her nose giving her 1 ml of breakstmilk every hour. So far so good but that’s the update I have so far. She’s been so strong through it all stronger than us for sure I would like to start raising money so we can get second opinions and more information on this disease, also the best medical treatment for our daughter! We want the best for our babygirl and we can not give her that alone! Even if you cannot make a donation a prayer will do justice! ❤️ My little rheaya sunshine will get through this, we have so much love and support I know we can give her the best life possible! No matter what Thank you for taking the time to read about our little girl and have a blessed day
