Rheaume Family Rescue

Due to some unforeseen and very unfortunate events, the Rheaume family has been forced to leave their home. Steve and Kaitlin are always willing to help others with no questions asked. Now it's our turn to show them how much we love them.

Hey all, I’m sending out a group message because it is easier and I’m hoping someone will post this.  We had a chimney fire in the beginning of may (this is important near the end). Sunday morning Steve woke up and noticed a large wet spot on the ceiling above our heads... Dan came and cut the areas out and noticed a disaster flaw in the installation of the insulation and infestation of BLACK MOLD(I’m wondering if this has anything to do with all our health issues this past year). The insulation was totally saturated and water poured out... we took videos of this. We were told it would be best to pack and get out.  Then we contacted insurance who stated to stay out and that it would most likely not be covered because they don’t cover mold. We were devastated and scared! That night we stayed at the in laws and then decided thereafter that we needed to be on our property because of the goats, pigs and chickens. We set up tents that were graciously brought to us and we camped out.. kids ended up at my moms, thank the lord (we all needed a break). Insurance couldn’t come out that day, so we sat on the edge of our seats and made mannny phone calls. Our insurance adjuster only told us the odds were not in our favor. The areas that we cut out were covered in plastic to prevent it from exposure and that night it rained/fresh rain water was puddled in the plastic (crazy to think this was right above our bed). He was able to come on wed and after experimenting with spraying water at the roof came to the conclusion that when the fire department was on our roof, they bent or stepped on a piece of the ridge cap, creating a gap. This was good and bad news... It means that we will still have that same deductible we had for relining and fixing the chimney but He said that any damage created by the mold is considered preexisting and therefore only covered up to a certain amount for exposing, removing and putting back together those areas. We are praying for less mold damage than water damage but I won’t sleep better until I know for sure. The Mold company came to the house today and zip locked the areas up. We are able to move the beds and camp in the living room tonight but tomorrow were back out again as they’re tearing stuff down, seeing how far the damage extended, treating mold  and setting up LOUD machines for 4 days. The kids and I will not be tenting at the house but steve will so that someone can be around for the animals. I have readjusted my allergy treatment to make all of this crazy work. I got my injections yesterday and I always feel a bit foggy the day after/I was a ball of anxiety all day today. Completely overwhelmed with the health stuff and the house stuff. I have faith there is a blessing underneath all of this and we will see some light.  Heres to hoping I can gather myself for a better tomorrow and not let anxiety get the best of me. I am taking some time off to get back on track. Thank you all for your sweet and loving offers of support. I truly love you all. -Kaitlin
