Donate to our Christmas Acts of Kindness Donation Drive:
The holidays are a time to unwind, get into the "Christmas spirit" with our loved ones and celebrate the season with warm food and gifts. Yet, this time of year is most challenging for families in the Rio Grande Valley facing financial hardships; many cannot pay for their daily essentials, much less splurge on Christmas expenses.
But this holiday season, we want to give back to families in our community and would love for you to join our initiative!
The Families We Want to Help:
- We’ve joined with Silvia Ruiz, one of our local bus drivers at the Edinburg ISD, to help students she drives or who attend the school district she works for. We plan to help six families: the Guerrero Family, the Gonzalez Family, the Gutierrez Family, the Sanchez family, the Cerda Family and the Fernandez Family. The children range from ages 6 to 16 years old and need new or gently used toys, clothes, shoes, blankets, school supplies, non-perishable food and monetary donations.
- We have also connected with the United Way of South Texas who is running their “Spirit of Christmas” campaign. We aim to help as many low-income families that have been featured in our local newspaper, The Monitor. Many of these families are coping with health issues, lack proper housing and food, and do not have the money to provide gifts for their little ones. To view their stories, check out the link below.
How You Can Support:
We will be accepting online and in-person donations these next couple of weeks. All proceeds on our GoFund Me page will go directly to low-income families throughout the RGV to provide essential items, Christmas toys and funds in order to alleviate financial distress they are experiencing.
Moreover, On Sunday December 18th, 2022, we will be hosting our Christmas Acts of Kindness Donation Drive at the University Draft House- Townlake McAllen (100 W U.S. Hwy 83, McAllen, TX 78501). Ariana Guerra, McAllen native and actor on CBS’ long-running franchise CSI, will host the event between 5p.m- 8p.m. There will be live music, CSI gifts and limited appetizers. Come hang out, enjoy the drink and food specials, and donate to help local families in need!
We will also have donation boxes located at Kicking Axes (1017 Shasta Ave, McAllen, TX 78504) and University Draft House- McAllen Townlake (100 W U.S. Hwy 83, McAllen, TX 78501) for residents to drop off gifts or gently used items from December 10th-17th.
