Transform Lives For Children With Autism

Donation protected
Please help me help them! I am raising funds to help improve the lives of seven children with autism in Uganda. Your donation will help ensure stability, food and appropriate education for these at risk children for the 2020 spring semester. Together, we can help improve their quality of life and give them the chance to grow to their potential.

Children with autism in Uganda face severe obstacles: The culture views disabilities as “a curse" and as a result of this viewpoint, fathers of autistic children often abandon their families leaving single mothers in poverty struggling to support the most basic needs of their families with little to nothing left to support the special needs of the autistic child. These children are often neglected and, in some cases, hidden away out of shame.

Ms. Dorothy Nambi, founder of the Dorna Centre Home for Autism has devoted herself to raising awareness about autism and improving the lives of autistic children in Uganda. The Dorna Center is a nonprofit weekly boarding and day school that serves autistic children, providing them with tailored services to help empower them to lead their best lives. The school's services are greatly discounted and even so, many are unable to sustain the cost and the children do not return.

We (Serenity Neurofeedback) have partnered with this school to sponsor the provision of 30 Neurofeedback sessions for each of the students during the Spring semester (February through May 2020). It is our sincerest hope that none of the 20 students currently enrolled will have to drop out for financial reasons and that all 20 will be able to benefit from full participation in this neurofeedback training opportunity.

We have learned that there are currently 7 at risk children who are in need of sponsorship. The cost to sponsor a child is $5 per day, this covers the cost of 2 meals and professional, specialized, tailored education for that child. This equates to approximately $335 for the entire semester.

This fundraiser seeks to provide full funding for each of these 7 children for the spring semester (7 x $335 =$2,345).

The additional $1,200 will fund the start up costs for a small commercial onsite chicken coop (includes 20+ chickens and materials to build the coop). This will provide:
>sustainable meals for the children and staff,
>a constant stream of income for the Centre, and
>the opportunity to teach the children valuable lessons and skills.

I am hosting this gofundme on behalf of the Dorna Centre because I believe this is the best platform to raise awareness and funds and Uganda is not currently served by Gofundme. The Dorna Centre is a registered non profit and can accept donations directly via PayPal on their site: https://dornahomeforautism.org/
