Help me Help Marina

Donation protected

This is an honest story about love and family.  I remember the day Marina was born...it was a sunny Spring day and her brother was SO excited that he was running around the hospital (including into delivery rooms) with anticipation that his sister was coming soon.
Seeing her for the first time melted my heart. She was perfect and I knew at that moment I would always be there to help and protect her no matter what. It has always been important to me to  show her that love is more powerful than anything else and if this last week has taught me anything I can only reiterate how powerful LOVE is in this world.

So last week when I found out she had "cut" herself as it was described to me I called just to check in and see how she's doing. Um...ya'll...she did not "cut" herself. She severed two of her fingers off on her dominant hand in a freak bagel cutting accident. They were able to sew them back on, but due to the severity of the injury without major surgery she would be left disabled the rest of her life.  Can you imagine? Can you imagine never using your right hand again?

When I asked her when surgery was schedulded for she simply replied that she couldn't have it because she couldn't afford it.This is the most painfully honest part of this campaign...when she called her father, my brother, for help; he refused. I could feel the devastation in her voice because I felt it in my soul and it hurt ME.

Plain and simple I would allow my niece to be disabled for the rest of her life because of money.  NEVER.

A week ago Marina had a very painful (the anesthesia didn't work for the first hour so she could FEEL everything)  and successful 4.5 hour surgery to reattach 4 ligaments and a nerve so she could start on her road to recovery.

Admitting I need help is one of the hardest things I've ever done, but I would do anything to help my family. So I'm asking for any support you can offer. Even the smallest donation will help me pay for her rehab.

Please know that if you can't offer financial support I believe in the power of positive thinking. Do me a favor and send one positive thought to Marina so she can heal physically and emotionally.

I appreciate all the love and support I have received this far...I'm blown away by how much my friends and family love me.

From the bottom of my heart....I thank everyone for taking the time to even read this. Much love, Paula
