My Daughter's Graduation

Please Help Us Get to My Daughter’s Graduation

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I am a disabled mother of two wonderful girls.  My youngest beautiful daughter, McKenzi, lives in Kentucky, 500 miles away. She has just turned 18 and will graduate from High School at the end of May, just a couple of weeks from now.

Due to lack of funds, we (my oldest beautiful daughter, Emily, who is also disabled, and I) have not been able to see her in over five years, which breaks my heart.  Because of the judge’s order, I was responsible for all of the travel. Emily and I  receive less than $1000.00 total per month.  At one point, we used to make the 1000-mile round trip in about 20 hours, trading off driving,  so that we didn't have lodging expenses.  As my health has deteriorated, I am no longer able to make those trips.  I am no longer able to walk or drive, which leaves Emily to do all of the driving, and I'm also not supposed to travel for more than five hours at a time.  It now takes me at least two days to get there, which means we have to pay for a place to stay for at least two nights, and that’s if we don’t get to spend any time with her. If we are to get to spend any time with her, we are looking at a minimum of four nights lodging, plus meals.  We used to sleep in our car at truck stops and fast food places. We just aren't able to do that now.

When McKenzi had to move we were able to sell off everything we had of value and used that money for traveling.  Then we finally ran out of things to sell.  I have missed almost everything in her life for the past nine years and have missed EVERYTHING in her life for the past five years.  I still cry myself to sleep missing her…all because of a school bully which lead to her living in Kentucky.

Now we are asking for your help.  It is indescribable how much it would mean to be able to be with her on this once-in-a-lifetime milestone in her life; to hug her; to see the look in her eyes; to actually see her and tell her in person how much I love her and how proud I am of her.  She has worked so hard.  Almost all of her classes have either been “Honors” or “Gifted” classes.  Today her GPA is 4.304.  Final exams aren’t for another week, so we don’t know what her graduating GPA will be.  Of course, it doesn’t matter what her GPA is, but I just want you to know how hard she has worked.

We ask for your prayers.  But obviously, we are asking for financial assistance to get to Kentucky and back.  Even if you can’t give much, every bit helps! The money will be used well, helping us with:

·         Gas

·         Tolls

·         Food

·         Lodging

·         Wheelchair rental (I don’t have mine yet)

·         Handicapped van rental

Again, even if you can’t give much, we appreciate any help you can offer! The opportunity to even hug her on this day will mean more than you can ever imagine!  Any parent reading this should be able to imagine how wonderful this would be for all three of us.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for anything you can give! We will post updates to let you know how close we get to our financial goal. Even if you can’t contribute, help us get the word out.  Please, share the link to your Facebook and Twitter timelines!

Again, we ask for your prayers.
Thank you.
