Anshul Raj Acharya 20-year-old international student from Nepal. Currently enrolled at Houston Community College is fighting for his Life as he is suffering from a very rare and life-threatening disease called TEN (Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis). It is a severe form of the disease Steven Johnson’s Syndrome. This disease is caused by an allergic reaction to Medication. Here are some more details on the disease Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis
While being treated for flu he was prescribed antibiotics. After a couple of days when 75% of his body was covered with rashes like burns, the doctors then realized that this was TEN and needed to be taken care in the Burn Unit. Since, there was no space available in any hospitals in Houston, TX. Anshul was airlifted to Medical City in Plano, Texas.
Doctors have said that just like the layer of the body, the layers of his organs have also been affected and are sloping off which has increased the risk of organ failure. He has been in Incubation with the ventilators for about a month now. Now that he has regained some of his consciousness the doctors are more positive and they stated he will be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for additional 2 – 3 months, and the will be moved to medium care unit (MCU) for a couple of months. If he gets discharged from the hospital he will have to go through rehab for the recovery. Best case scenario he will require one year to get his life back to normal
As a person Anshul is an introvert, people who have met him will tell you he is kind and loving. He had a huge plan for his future after completing his studies here in the United States but the life has now thrown him a curve and he is fighting to survive.
P.S.The current photo of the patient has not been posted due to the severity of the case.
As an International Student there are a lot of expenses in abroad he has to bear in order to sustain. We were able to bring his parents to the United States so that they can be with him. For time being we have accommodated them in a Hotel. As we all know that medical expenses are high here in the United States, especially for an International student or an Immigrant.
P.S. this post is totally on behalf of his parents. The amount received from the fund will directly be deposited into the patient's own bank account.
Anshul and his parents are in very rough place right now. They need all the prayers and support from every one of us. It would be great if we could help them financially by donating a little bit of what we can so that we could help relieve a little bit from their huge piles of burden.
