A big THANK YOU to the Recreational Fishing Alliance’s New Jersey chapter (RFA-NJ) for helping secure a curbside allowance for New Jersey’s bait and tackle shops!

After NJ Governor Phil Murphy issued his March 21 "stay at home" order while identifying "essential business" that could remain in operation during the COVID-19 crisis, I was personally in touch with RFA-NJ for assistance on behalf of the recreational fishing industry.

It took roughly 2-1/2 weeks of heavy lifting by RFA-NJ and their advocates working in our state capital to get an allowance for curbside bait and tackle delivery for New Jersey's angling community, and I was thrilled to run the April 7th headline at The Fisherman Magazine that read "NJ Curbside Bait & Tackle is Open ."

These are trying times, and my heart goes out to those who've suffered the pain and loss associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.  Businesses and their staff, not to mention families nationwide, are suffering; but recreational fishing in the present norm of "social distancing" is allowed by state government order, and in fact has also been encouraged.

Which is why I'm starting this campaign to help support RFA-NJ - a registered, non-profit 501 (c)(4) organization - in its ongoing efforts to protect and preserve our right to fish in the Garden State through their ongoing efforts in our State Capital.

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit RFA-NJ, and any donation will help make an impact.  It took a lot of effort, managing phones, sending letters and burning shoe leather where possible to get this curbside allowance in the Garden State.  It is my sincere hope that we'll see light at the end of the tunnel very soon for our local for-hire operators and the patrons who fish those charter and headboats; RFA-NJ is actively working with a number of recreational captains through the United Boatmen of New Jersey  in hopes of  allowing some type of opening of the for-hire fishing industry while promoting and assuring responsible outdoor activity.

Who knows when this crisis will be over, but I'm grateful for our recreational fishermen, the businesses who serve us, and especially the RFA-NJ for leading the way on our behalf.

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.  I've started the campaign out with a personal donation of $100, but anything you can contribute for this effort would be much appreciated.

All funds collected will be donated directly to RFA-NJ, by me on your behalf, for their continued efforts in Trenton!
