Rex Arthur Elsner, 56 of Black River Falls, formerly of the Madison area, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018. He was born July 10, 1961 in Stoughton to Emmet and Marilyn {Pernot} Elsner. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Olson; mother Marilyn; children, Tia Marie (Josh) {Schultz} Elsner, Casey Merlin (Jennifer) Zillmer, and Amber Rose Hoge; grandchildren, Preston, Jasmine, Elizabeth, Annabelle, Sophia, Marcella, Hunter, and Dominic;his guardian angel dog, Stormy; as well as many other relatives and friends. Rex was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and two brothers, Chuck and Roger Elsner. Rex was a “Jack of all trades” and worked many different jobs throughout his life, most recently the past five years as a mechanic and tow truck driver for Brauner’s Garage and Towing. He also served as a firefighter and EMT in the Madison area. Rex loved to hunt, fish, and just be outdoors. He also enjoyed spending his time working on cars. Rex pulled trucks, tractors, ATVs and more with the Badger State Dirtflingers and was very proud of his awards he earned doing so. Rex had a special bond with all his Doberman dogs, starting with his service dogs, Baron and Gypsy, and all the others that stole his heart along the way. Rex was battling cancer since January 22, 2017. He fought a good fight with his family by his side. He loved spending time with them more than anything and his grandchildren were the light of his world. A celebration of Rex’s Life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Buswell Funeral Home, 106 S. 2nd Street, Black River Falls. Pastor Terry Marg will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials in Rex’s name can be made to his family. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Rex A. Elsner, please visit our Tribute Store. Rex Elsner (my father) has been fighting colon rectal cancer since January 22th 2017. Overtime and moving from McFarland to Black River, he has lost his life insurance policy, he has been working on trying to get a new policy, unfortunately with the cancer he was unable to. We are now asking for help, so Stephanie, Amber, the Family, and I can give him the proper service, cremation, and peace he deserves.
