My Fellow Revolutionaries,
After taking into consideration the most recent announcements from all levels of government, we have decided that the best course of action for our restaurants is to SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY amidst the uncertainty and let chaos run its natural course. Although a "carryout only" model may make sense for some operators, we refuse to reinvent our business model to MAYBE serve enough customers to MAYBE run a profitable operation and our staff to unnecessary levels of stress. With policies and rules constantly changing every day, this is not an environment in which any small business can thrive. Furthermore, it seems likely that the ban(s) will only grow more strict and perhaps rightfully so. How long will carryout/delivery be allowed before a complete ban is announced on a federal level? For these reasons, we are compelled to shut down NOW and cut our losses to ensure we can reopen after the crisis has run its course.
On the topic of our employees, this is an incredibly difficult time for them and we appreciate your continued support in any way you see fit. Shutting down now does help our staff obtain unemployment and disaster relief benefits immediately as opposed getting paid only a fraction of what they would otherwise be making while serving less customers with reduced business hours. In addition, if COVID-19 is in fact as contagious as they say it is then we would like do our part to protect the safety of our employees who we care deeply about by shutting down now and eliminating the opportunity for them to potentially be exposed to COVID-19 while serving the general public.
Lastly, as a loyal customer if you would like to support us despite our shut down, we will be selling much of our existing inventory of food, beer, liquor, wine and even disposables this week as raw goods to ensure we remain solvent through the shut down. Stay tuned for details and of course, we are incredibly grateful for your support!
