5 Points Art Gallery & Studios is the sole effort by visual artist, Fatima Laster, to reinvest in her childhood neighborhood in Milwaukee, WI by redeveloping a former funeral home into a mixed-use art space, consisting of an art gallery, artist work studios, a shared commercial kitchen, and two residential apartments.
Due to the misfortune of vandalism, the 5 Points Art Gallery & Studios rehabilitation is now short of funds necessary to complete the project and is in jeopardy of not being realized into the asset it will be to the community and other artists. I've invested several thousand dollars in personal equity, but need help covering the gap.
Your immediate support is requested to secure the revitalization of this foregone neighborhood staple that will have significant community impact by bringing working artist and business owners to the area, exposing high art and its derivative professions (such as curator, art dealer, media relations and promoter, event planner, stage designer, framer, printer, graphic designer, etc.) as viable income sources to an underemployed and underrepresented population, increasing representation of fine artwork produced by artists from marginalized demographics, and bringing use to a vacant, blighted, vandalized, albeit beautiful, building in the area.
As an expression of utmost gratitude, thank you gifts will be mailed to you in exchange for your generous donations. Gifts will vary, but notable contribution levels include:
- $100 to $150: one limited edition print
- $150 to $299: one small original artwork
- $300: name engraving on building block
- $300 to $999: one medium-sized original artwork or a combination of small original artwork and one name engraving
- $600: one-hour group workshop, including supplies, with light snacks and beverages for up to a party of 10 in the 5 Points Art Gallery
- $1,000: two-hour group workshop, including supplies, with light snacks and beverages for up to a party of 10 in the 5 Points Art Gallery, or other Milwaukee, Madison, or Chicago location
- $1,000 to $2,499: one larger-sized original artwork OR a combination of small and medium artwork and two name engravings
- $2,500 to $4,999: two larger custom art pieces and two name engravings
- $5,000+: two custom original artworks and two name engravings
- $10,000+: three custom original artworks, three name engravings, invitation to the "Thank You" dinner, including travel and hotel stay
Requesting a minimum $25.00 contribution, however, no donation is too small. A thank you gift will be provided for all donations.
