REVISION RHINOPLASTY REQUIRED. HELP ME REBUILD MY NOSE. From: Gail Heller, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 8/14/2019 I am seeking financial assistance to correct a failed rhinoplasty surgery that I had in St. Paul, Minnesota, on May 7, 2018. Unfortunately, this unhappy surgery result altered my life forever, necessitating extensive, costly revision surgery which I, in no way, can afford. After surgical repair of a bridge of a broken nose, I was left with a surgical disaster and thrown into confusion. Unbelievably, the bridge was not corrected, and my septum was shifted to the right, collapsing and blocking the right nostril. [Two opticians and one graphics college student have each determined that the relocated septum is now out of alignment by ½ inch, off-center on my face. As a result of my upper lip moving along with moved septum, my lower lip appears skewed by 1/3 inch.] I have had to endure facial disfigurement for over a year–humiliating, visual trauma of a face skewed into a bulbous half-nose, with a nose tip resplendent with red and purple capillaries, still too tight, still numb. Only one nostril is open for breathing. Not being able to breathe is frightening, causing panic. I am emotionally paralyzed. This is not something one is able to “get used to.” A collapsed nostril is a damp breeding ground for infection. My health has been compromised by chronic sinusitis, which is starting to become painful. [Chronic Sinusitis can cause life-threatening conditions like meningitis or brain abscess, and my doctor is not happy prescribing so many antibiotics due to my age.] I am hopeful this can be remedied. I am a young-hearted, creative 70-year-old with much to offer the world. I am living on an extremely limited income, a small monthly Social Security check. Sadly, the quality of my life has degenerated considerably; I am overwhelmed. But I believe that, somehow, I will find my way through this medical nightmare. I have researched the services of an expert plastic surgeon for revision surgery in New York City, a competent surgeon who knows what he is doing, that I have faith in and with whom I feel safe. I have written this GoFundMe.com page to seek support from my fellow human beings, asking for whatever you feel that you can contribute towards the cost of revision surgery, round-trip travel from Minneapolis to New York City, along with food and lodging for two weeks. Goal: More or less $18,000 hopefully by the end of the year. Please help me. I want to regain my health and strength, become independent, and live again. Thank you for your concern and support to enable me to rectify this situation.
PS: Social Security Administration is aware of this situation and my actions, and that my friend Norma will administer the cash flow to legitimate, appropriate resources for my benefit.
