Reuniting Ximena and Sergio

Sometimes life changes drastically within a matter of seconds. This morning marked the beginning of a very difficult journey for Ximena. Sergio was detained by Immigration and after many conversations, tears and collaborative efforts, he will not be allowed to stay in the United States.  I have yet to find a way to explain this to our daughter. How do I begin to tell her that her papi has been taken from her?

I know, as her mother, it is my responsibility to provide her with stability. It will take great strength to help her navigate through her sadness, the confusion, the emptiness she will experience over and over again.

It took this moment for me to realize how truly unprepared we have been. How much support emotionally and financially I am going to need in order to help Ximena get through this. As much as I love her, I will never be able to provide her with the love of her papi.

Any monetary donations will go towards passport application, plane fare so Ximena can travel to visit Sergio, daycare expenses that Sergio previously covered for us, and anything I can't currently think of. I can also anything aside (if anyone wishes to do so) to help Sergio transition into living in a country he hasn't been to in many, many years.

To those of you who are not able to donate money but are able to donate time (and most importantly, love), please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly. I am going to do my best to make sure Ximena is constantly surrounded by family and friends who will shower her with love and affection. She will need to know now, more than ever, that we are all here for her and she is not alone.

I thank you all in advance from the bottom of my heart. There are no amount of words to express my gratitude.

With love,
Anjelica and Ximena
