Reuniting Thok's Family

Donation protected

Hi there  - my name is Birgitte and I am raising money to help a special friend of mine whose name is Thok. Thok is from South Sudan and has four beautiful, lively daughters aged 5, 8, 9 and 12, who he is desperately trying to bring to Australia.

Thok came to Australian a few years ago to go a short course in public health, but while he was here the civil war in his home country of Sudan erupted again and he applied for refugee status. His status was granted in 2014 and he received permanent residency status in 2016. This meant that he could finally apply for his children to join him in Australia through a humanitarian application. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful and the only way he can be re-united with his children now is through a different and costly visa. Thok is now studying fulltime at Avondale College of Higher Education, and it is incredibly difficult to save on a student’s Centrelink allowance. The small amount of money he does receive is used to support his daughters, to pay for their education and living expenses. His daughters are under the care of their grandmother in a refugee camp in Kenya, but he worries constantly for their safety and future during this time of devastating war in their home country.

This is our chance to help Thok and show him that we care about him and his daughters and want them to have a bright future in Australia. The goal is to raise the $15,000 that will allow all of the visas to be submitted and processed so that he can bring his daughters home as soon as possible. It is a lot for one person, but an achievable amount if we all pitch in, share it around and encourage others to help out as well. Anything you can spare will help and there is no donation too small.

Where will your donation be spent?

Thok is applying, through registered government migration agent (Agent registration number: 0852871), for a Child Visa for his four children at a quoted cost of a little over $15, 000. The visa application process and travel expenses are exorbitant and Thok is studying hard to make sure he can support his children when they arrive. We want to help with the initial cost of the visa applications. All donations will be forwarded directly to a migration agent (this is a government formality) who will use it to pay for the legal fees and processing fees for the application and make sure everything is done in accordance with migration law.

Please help us to reunite Thok's family,

Thank you in advance.
