Send STEM Students to See Wakanda Forever

Donation protected
You need to see it to be it! We need more children from diverse backgrounds to know they can pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) careers. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, children can see the most technologically advanced society in the Marvel world, led by Shuri, a Black hero and scientist.

In 2018, the Black Panther film was a global phenomenon, and author/activist Fred T. Joseph launched the Black Panther Challenge to send kids to free screenings of the film. Fred and his work inspired the Shang-Chi Challenge in 2021 led by Ron Han. Fred and Ron share a mutual passion for representation in media and believe in the power of film to inspire children. We’ve seen first-hand through past screenings how much these films mean to children and their families, and Wakanda Forever is the perfect film to show diverse STEM students that they too can be scientists, engineers and superheroes.

Let’s return to Wakanda together! This time, Fred and Ron have teamed up, Avengers style, and are joined by Picture Motion, a leading social impact agency, to coordinate a special experience for Black and Latinx kids in hopes of inspiring the future generation of STEM leaders.

#Return2Wakanda seeks to send 286 STEM students and families to a private screening of Wakanda Forever. All proceeds will go towards a screening, transportation and refreshments on Saturday, November 12th for the children of SoLA Robotics, a tech organization that hosts classes in coding, robotics and more for the South Los Angeles community. Any additional funds raised will be donated to SoLA Robotics to support their ongoing educational programs.

Spread the word using #Return2Wakanda on socials!

Cost breakdown:

  • $16.50 per ticket
  • $30 per family for concessions at the theater
  • $1,240 to charter a bus to provide transportation to and from the screening for families in need

About SoLA Robotics

SoLA Robotics began as a response to the lack of high quality, on-going, hands-on STEM/Robotics instruction available to students in South LA and Watts. Today SoLAR provides affordable programming for students in these communities. We're South LA's premier community-based, year-round, competitive robotics club, here to give your child the tools and confidence to delve into coding and robotics, and perhaps one day, pursue a career in STEM. You can find us on Instagram , Facebook and at www.SouthLARobotics.org.
