Return a Little Boy to His Mother

Donation protected

“Rachel Tyel” is a spirited and loving mom to six-year-old “Gabriel,” a multi-lingual elegant woman whose first language is French. Rachel is a highly-educated and sophisticated professional whose pride and joy is her young son. Currently a resident of Manhattan, she was forced to flee a European country with her small child after he was severely abused and brutalized and the authorities failed to act, pretending that Rachel fabricated the story and taking steps to have her deemed an unfit mother.

The horrible backstory: because the attack was motivated by anti-Semitism, Rachel and Gabriel fled for their lives. This is an international situation and active criminal case.

In her effort to help her child and keep him safe, Rachel lost her life savings. Finding herself living in NYC in unsanitary public housing, a series of unfortunate events led to Gabriel being removed from her custody by child protective services.

Gabriel longs to be reunited with his mama and Rachel has devoted her entire being to winning back custody of her child.

There is no father in this family. Rachel is the sole parent and sole support of Gabriel. She is his sun, his moon, his compass, his firmament, his terra firma. His face is illuminated when they are together. He cries bitterly when they must part. It is heartbreaking and unjust. Mother and child are suffering needlessly.

We are a group of friends in New York City who are well-acquainted with the case of Rachel Tyel and Gabriel. Included among us are lawyers, writers, rabbis, educators, doctors and others. We have supported this remarkable and valiant woman through hellish circumstances and now need your help. Gabriel is in dire need of medical, psychological, educational and extra-curricular services. In addition, Rachel needs counseling, a safe place to live and financial support so she can get herself back on her feet professionally. She has been traumatized and vilified as she fights for her maternal rights and her son’s best interests.

Back in her native country she was a respected healthcare professional with a clinic of her own. As Gabriel was born when she was in the States, lecturing, he is an American citizen.

The story of Rachel Tyel and Gabriel is one of a system gone wrong. Instead of protecting Gabriel, this young boy has been bounced around from foster home to foster home. Instead of basking in the security of his sole parent, he is rent with anxiety and insecurity. Rachel often feels helpless.

It is not often that you find yourself in a position to transform someone’s life for the better. We are therefore asking you to contribute generously to bring Gabriel back to the care of the person who loves him best, the person who knows him best, the person he belongs with: his mother.

Due to the extremely sensitive nature of this case, we cannot divulge personal details at this moment.  If you would like to verify the validity of Rachel Tyel and Gabriel’s story before you contribute,  we are happy to speak with you privately. Working with Rachel, all of us who are parents have returned home to hug our children a little bit tighter, knowing that any of us might find ourselves in her situation. In truth, we are all a couple of steps away from calamity. With your help, we can help this Jewish mom bring her beloved son home, where he belongs.
