I'm Valerie, a friend of Dian whose 7 year old son, J (I'll call him J to protect him), was taken from her early in the morning on Sunday, May 3, 2020. In this tragic tale J's biological father has somehow convinced the court in St. Paul, MN that he should have sole, temporary custody of J. Let me explain that J is a product of date rape. And the father is a felon who continues to get arrested over and over again. Dian has never lived with J's father, and she has had sole custody of J from birth until May 3, 2020. She has always provided for J. She put herself through school to become a nurse, and she is employed as such. Dian lived in St. Paul, MN until December, 2019 when her apartment was destroyed in a fire at her apartment complex. Because her only close/direct family, her sister and brother-in-law, lived in North Carolina she moved there.
Dian got a lawyer as quickly as possible, not an easy thing to do since she now lives in North Carolina and J was taken to Minnesota. The lawyer sent in an emergency appeal to have the temporary custody reversed 2 months ago. It was denied. The court date is set for September 15, 2020. Dian paid $7,000 to this lawyer. He wants more. Through the help of church ties Dian found another lawyer.
Oh, a few weeks ago J's Dad was arrested again for assault with strangulation, and the police called Dian to come & get J. She got on the next flight, but after she arrived she was told she couldn't have J. Another request for an emergency reversal was denied yet again by the same judge!!! This is truly mind boggling!! Remember, now that J's father has been released from jail, J is living with this man again. {Shudder}
