<div>Seit 17 Jahren bekomme ich das Medikament TRANSLARNA (Ataluren) verschrieben, die einzige verfügbare Therapie, die mein Leben gegen die tödlich verlaufende Krankheit Duchenne Muskeldystrophie rettet.

<div>Ohne dieses Medikament hätte ich kaum das 20. Lebensjahr erreichen können. Nur Dank dieser Therapie bin ich 32 Jahre alt geworden, ein wahres Wunder bei dieser Krankheit.

<div>Über Jahre hinaus hat die Krankenkasse die Kosten der Therapie mit TRANSLARNA übernommen. Jetzt hat die Krankenkasse aber entschieden, die Therapie nicht weiter zu finanzieren, weil die EU-Kommission und die europäische Zulassungsbehörde sich über die Verlängerung der Marktzulassung nicht einig sind.

<div>Diese Entscheidung der Krankenkasse, trotz bestehender Zulassung, ist ein Schock für mich und für viele Betroffene in Deutschland und versetzt mich in Todesangst. In vielen anderen Ländern Europas dürfen die Betroffenen weiterleben, aber in unserem Land nicht - ein Todesurteil!

<div>Mein Vorrat an Medikation ist mir ausgegangen und mein Leben ist bedroht! DOCH ICH WILL KÄMPFEN, ICH WILL LEBEN!

<div>Meine einzige Chance ist, die Therapie privat zu finanzieren. Die Kosten in Höhe von 400.000 € im Jahr kann ich alleine gar nicht tragen!

<div>For the past 17 years, I have been prescribed the medication TRANSLARNA (Ataluren), the only available therapy that has saved my life from the deadly disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

<div>Without this medication, I would hardly have reached the age of 20. Thanks to this therapy, I have made it to 32 years old - a true miracle for someone with this condition.

<div>For many years, my health insurance covered the costs of TRANSLARNA therapy. However, the insurance company has now decided to stop financing the treatment because the EU Commission and the European Medicines Agency cannot agree on extending its market approval.

<div>This decision, despite the medication’s existing approval, is a shock to me and many others affected in Germany, leaving me in fear for my life. In many other European countries, patients can continue their treatment but not in ours. This is a death sentence!

<div>My supply of medication has run out, and my life is in danger! BUT I WANT TO FIGHT, I WANT TO LIVE!
</div>

<div>My only option is to finance the therapy privately. But I cannot afford the 400 000 Euros per year on my own!
