Re-Tree WNY- help non-profit replant trees

Re-Tree WNY is a non-profit organization, established on November 3, 2006 by a group of about 40 Western New York residents who saw first-hand the devastation done to our beautiful WNY living resources -- our trees -- and decided to take action to re-forest every public area that was destroyed by the freak October 12-13 snowstorm.
Why do we need to plant trees?
1.5 acres of forest is cut down every second, most of this is for agriculture (the leading cause of deforestation). However, the loss of forests contributes between 12% - 17% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions (World Resources Institute).
20% of the world’s oxygen is produced in the Amazon forest. Recently, the 7,200 square miles of the forest burned down, which is roughly the size of New Jersey. The only way to combat deforestation is by re-planting and re-plenishing trees and their oxygen production, and we can help by doing that right in our backyards.
By donating, all proceeds are allocated to purchasing trees to plant. Due to the organization being based on volunteers, Re-Tree WNY requires funding for the trees and resources used to plant them around WNY.
