Retired Vietnam Navy Veteran

Hello I am trying to find help for a Disabled Navy Veteran (Vietnam) Joel Heivly and his Wife Jere Heivly.   Jere within the last 10 years has come down with Diabetes and the disease has taken one kidney and her eye sight.  Joel Heivly is in bad health and has had problems keeping up with repairs to their home.  In April of this year 2017 they were served with papers from the township of Pine Creek PA in Clinton County.  The papers essentially gave them an eviction notice from their home so it could be torn down in 30 days.  The result of this will leave them homeless unless repairs are made to the home.  I have worked on the property numerous times removing trash, debris etc. and  completing some of the home repairs that needed to be done.  I have worked with a lawyer from Jersey Shore PA who was nice enough to take the case probono.  With the lawyers help we have bought some time and the 30 days has been extended to the end of August 2017.    I have repaired leaking plumbing, an improperly installed AC unit, replaced the toilet,  Repaired the joist under the living room and main entry and spent many hours helping Mr. Heivly clean up and remove stuff from his home.   I am unable to do everything needed as I live almost 5 hours away from the Heivly's.   We are seaking help in getting more repairs done.  The main things that need to be completed are the kitchen floor, Living room floor, gutters, fascia and soffit, possible roof and a small deck with a ramp.  The small deck and ramp are for Jere as they currently have only a set of stairs with no railing entering the house which makes it very difficult to get her in and out in a wheel chair and being blind not very safe for her to walk.

Jere Heivly due to all of the stress when she first got the notices from the township ended up having two mini strokes putting her in the hospital since April 2017.  Jere is getting better but the nursing home / rehab center wont let her go home until the orders from the township are lifted.  Medicare has now reached its time limit and wont pay for her to be in the care of the nursing home.  The Heivly's because of this have a bill of around 4000 dollars and climbing because the medicare insurance wont pay now that she is over 100 days in treatment.

We are seeking the help so their home can be repaired to have the order lifted.  So Joel and Jere Heivly will once again be able to live in their home together.   I am hoping we can find enough kindness out there to help this Vietnam Vet save his home so he and his wife can spend their days together at home instead of in the nursing home worrying about the bills piling up and losing their family home.
