Help Towards Retired Guide Dog Hudson's Treatment

Hi everyone, it’s Nathan Edge here, the owner of Hudson whilst he was a working guide dog with me.

It’s with sadness I’m here creating this page today following some upsetting news that the absolutely loveable retired guide dog Hudson, who’m many have fallen in love with over the years, has unfortunately been having a tough time of late and is in need of important treatment following diagnosis of Laryngeal paralysis.

He has already undergone x-rays and has now been referred to a specialist for his treatment which has been estimated to cost in the region of £3,500 - £5,000, with him now needing further scans, an endoscopy followed by surgery, and is likely to need 3-4 overnight stays with the vets for his treatment. He is expected to begin his treatment on the 25th May 2022.

Unfortunately Hudson wasn’t able to be insured upon retirement as a guide dog due to existing medical conditions, and understandably the charity Guide Dogs are unable to commit to covering vet bills for all retired guide dogs, so Hudson’s adopted family instead have been making monthly contributions into a savings account for any vet bills, and I’ve also pledged to contribute to treatments myself wherever I can too. However unfortunately following the costs of regular hydrotherapy to aid his hip dysplasia along with other vet bills over the years, these funds are running a little low at the moment.

This is why I’ve created this page to ask for your support to get Hudson the help he needs. We understand times are tough but if you are able to donate a pound or two, we will be forever grateful. If you aren’t able to support financially, this is absolutely fine, however if you could instead share this link on your social media to help spread the word, this would also still be a massive help.

If you’re not familiar with Hudson and the incredible dog he has been over the years, please watch this special video we made for his retirement back in 2018.

If there are any outstanding funds following Hudson’s treatment, these will be added to his savings account for any possible future treatment needs. If there are any funds remaining in the future after Hudson passes on, this remaining amount will be donated to Guide Dogs UK.

Thank you all so much for your support. You can read updates over on Facebook at the following link. The page used to be Hudson's but is now covering the journey with my current guide dog with updates on Hudson in his retirement. - https://www.facebook.com/GuideDogAbby/
