While we strongly believe in providing safe, supportive housing for those in need, the recent decision to place a 4-storey, 50+ person municipal shelter in a small parking lot on a tiny residential street, adjacent to supportive seniors housing complex, and within 300 meters of two elementary schools, raises serious concerns. It’s important that this decision involves more thoughtful planning and community input to ensure the best outcome for both shelter clients and local residents.
