RESUME SEARCH FOR DMITRI PAJITNOV

Donation protected
Our team would like to share a brief update and some plans related to our missing friend Dmitri Pajitnov (Dima). As many of you are already aware, Dmitri went missing on July 3, 2017, after falling through a snow bridge on Mt. Rainier near Pebble Creek.

After more than four minimal searches, the Mount Rainier Search and Rescue crew was unable to locate our close friend. As the Kiro7 article highlighted, a group of us did successfully make our way to the exact spot that was considered too dangerous for many.

After consulting with professional rescue personnel and among ourselves, we quickly came to the painful conclusion that Dima’s chance of survival under the current conditions was minimal.

We would like to thank Kiro7 for taking the time to air the article about Dmitri. Thanks to this exposure, we received much appreciated support and a few suggestions. After consulting with Dima’s family, we would like to update everyone on what we plan on doing next.

First and foremost, we would like to recover Dima’s body and bring him home for a proper funeral. Given the current weather conditions and limited resources, we welcome any assistance whether through private search parties, paid services, park officials, the media, or other sources that can help us locate our friend. Any volunteers familiar with the terrain will be greatly appreciated.

Our group plans on making weekly trips to Mt. Rainier to conduct limited searches as conditions permit. In addition, we have pilots who will be conducting regular fly-overs in order to keep an eye on the area where we believe Dmitri is located.

As it stands right now we are not permitted to use drones to search for Dima but we are working closely with park officials to get a permit to do so. Once we are granted this permit we plan on hiring private companies that specialize in search and rescue drone use (water and air) and other equipment that will help us locate our friend.

We are also working on getting permits on using professional body recovery dog teams.  The park does not allow pet dogs into the park, but we are working on getting permission to use specially trained canines for the recovery effort.

Dima was a role model and a great friend to so many people in our tight knit community. He had limitless compassion for others, while always striving to improve the world we all live in. Spending a day with Dima often resulted in a lifelong friendship. In light of this tragic event and to honor Dima, we are working closely with his family on few special projects that will help people in our situation in the future. We will keep you posted on our progress and will update you as progress is made. Please feel free to contact us with any helpful information or resources that will help us in the search for our dear friend Dima.

The money withdrawal will be made on our behalf (Mikhail Radutskiy: close and trusted friend of Dmitri and his family) to cover current expenses and provide all necessary equipment and supply for a group of professional alpine climbers which will resume the search of Dmitri’s body and its possible recovery this upcoming weekend from 07/21 to 07/23.
