Restoring The Barn - Funding One Hallelujah

The goal of this fundraiser is twofold:

1. To complete the repair/restoration of The Barn. With all the amazing things we were able to accomplish on the inside of The Barn, we were never able to address the exterior.

2. To make the necessary adjustments to the building so we can apply for re-zoning with the purpose of expanding it’s capabilities for One Hallelujah and the greater community.

Barn Restoration Project Needs:

1. Pressing and immediate need for $20,000 to re-side The Barn, as it has deteriorated to the point that it cannot be repaired and we are in jeopardy of losing our insurance as a result.

2. The deck, one of our most essential forms of egress, needs to be completely torn down due to the fact that it has deteriorated to the degree that it is unsafe. The new deck will be built to take advantage of the stunning views of farmland that surround The Barn and will provide more usable space for functions.

3. The creation of a memorial prayer garden and landscaped grounds for people to enjoy in and around the events that we offer as well as the construction of an outdoor stage/pavilion for outdoor performances.

4. Take the necessary steps required to apply for re-zoning (sprinkler system, out-swinging doors, etc.)

The Story

My name is Chris Wilson. www.chriswilson.us I am a Singer/Songwriter from the Rochester NY area.

I have been blessed to perform all over the world, but some years ago my wife and I felt the tug to come back to our hometown to raise our family.

Needing a home base of operations, in 2013 we fulfilled a life-long dream and bought a barn that was built in 1849. This turned out to be far more than we bargained for, filled with challenges we couldn’t have possibly imagined. By the grace of God we persevered. We completely re-designed and re-built the interior of this building. It isn’t an overstatement to say that every penny I have ever made as a musician, one way or another, is in this building. Inside these walls we have created a truly unique studio and production venue and have had the privilege of hosting hundreds, if not thousands, of patrons during the last 3 years.

In 2019 I lost a friend to the ravages of cancer. Through my connection to her story, as well as a deep pull on my heart to do something more meaningful with my music, I was able to see a new direction. In the beginning of 2020 we started One Hallelujah, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of using music to serve others. It became apparent that The Barn should be the base of operations for One Hallelujah.

Covid Shutdown

Enter March 2020. No one could have predicted a global pandemic, which would completely shut down everything I do, overnight. After 3 years of standing-room only performances, The Barn went silent. Within a matter of days every concert/performance I had scheduled for the rest of the year ,and the foreseeable future, was canceled. We quickly shifted to a twice a week video livestream format and did our best, through One Hallelujah, to do as much musical outreach as we could to those who were suffering through the pandemic. This included, but was not limited to, doing distanced pop-up performances for people who were shut-in, to giving instruments to people who would benefit from their healing affects.

One of the positive outcomes of the pandemic shutdown was the development of our video production capabilities. We started our livestream performances with 1 camera, and over the course of more than 120 weekly episodes we have gradually increased to a fully functioning 4 camera production studio, capable of putting out top quality programming.

Since the beginning of this project, this space and our lives have been touched by so many wonderful and supportive people. People who understood intuitively what this building and this mission was about and what it could become. This project has gotten down to its last dollar on more than one occasion, only to be blessed in that moment by a generous and discerning soul. This place has been about community and connection since day one. We have bold ideas, and the enthusiasm of our patrons seem to be validating them.

Given the nature of our world, I feel it vitally necessary to create art which seeks to uplift.

Please consider joining the One Hallelujah family by supporting this goal.

Every single dollar we raise goes directly to fulfilling these needs.

God continues to watch over this mission.
