Restoring home destroyed by suspected DWI driver

Donation protected
For over 70 years, the Silvas have called Barelas home. After retiring from a career devoted to teaching, my father, Art Silva, has been painting the 3rd Street duplex home to restore its beauty.

Late in the evening of December 2, 2020, a woman crashed into the corner of his home and was arrested for suspected DWI. The renter of the downstairs unit was home but fortunately for all involved, his child who would normally have been asleep in that room was not at home so no one was injured.

The home did, however, sustain substantial damage as the woman's SUV slammed into the home and will require a great deal of repair. Insurance will not cover the costs of the repair so Art has been trying to find ways to complete the work as best he can as quickly as he can for his tenant.

Your support is greatly appreciated as my father would never ask for help on his own and only ever looks to help others. The repair total is unknown at the moment but any amount is greatly appreciated and will help restore the home to a safe state for both families.

Thank you so much for your consideration!
