Invest in Marriages, Families and Future Generations
I am fundraising for Ron and Ann Rudd's ministry. Over the years I have been encouraged and inspired by their various ministries as we raise our own family. I have no doubt that many of you reading this will feel the same.
In the past 2 years, they have faced significant challenges and I invite you to read their story below and come together with us to show the love of Christ to support them in their work with couples and families at their future counselling ministry office.
Ron and Ann served for 20+ years at the Metropolitan Bible Church in Ottawa. Ron spent much of that time as the children’s pastor and subsequently had key roles in both family and men's ministry. Ann served alongside Ron supporting children’s ministries in several ways including leading Awana for many years.
While at the Met, they were involved in counselling couples and families in need of relational healing and restoration. Instead of leaving this ministry behind when Ron retired, they decided to continue to counsel couples, free of charge, trusting God to provide for their needs. They continue to pursue training in counselling, as they work with couples and others.
The Rudds raised and homeschooled their children, which included adopting 4 lovely sisters, bringing their family of 6 children to completion at 10. Their family has gone through many painful times through the years, but God has sustained them with his favour and faithfulness.
Ron and Ann have a great heart for children and for investing in future generations and see counselling as an investment in establishing godly future generations, one family at a time.
After retirement, Ron and Ann, along with their oldest son Matt and his family, made the decision to look for a new property and embark on a multi-generational living adventure. They sold their house and purchased an older residence in need of remodelling, to which God led them. Their vision for this move was to build an in-law suite to live in, and in the private and tranquil setting provide an attached ministry office where they can counsel couples and families. The main home would be renovated and used by their son and daughter-in-law with their 6 children. Matt is also a pastor in downtown Ottawa, at Calvary Baptist Church.
However, no sooner did they embark on this ambitious plan than difficulty arose.
First, shortly after retirement in Summer 2021, Ron developed some serious medical conditions: autoimmune pancreatitis and a faulty heart valve which needed surgery. He has thankfully received amazing care and experienced the Lord’s healing in many ways, but his conditions still require management.
Second, it soon became obvious that the home they purchased required substantially more repairs and expenses than were expected based on the inadequate pre-purchase inspection, which has blown up their budget and put at risk their dream of incorporating a ministry office.
Third, one of their beautiful daughters passed away earlier this year after suffering for several years with severe mental health issues, throwing Ron and Ann and their family into deep grief.
Would you prayerfully consider supporting Ron and Ann's dream of building the “Restoring Families Counselling Room” ministry office for counselling couples and healing marriages? The office would have a separate entrance, be sound-proofed from the main living space, and have washroom access. The prayer is that it would be a place where couples could feel safe to come and receive healing.
It would be wonderful to see the body of Christ invest to help with the cost of this vision. The budget solely for the ministry office (excluding any other renovations or living quarters) is $90,000.
If you feel led to help in any way, know that your donation is an investment in kingdom work and will be greatly appreciated by the Rudds and those to whom they minister.
God bless you and thank you!
