<div>I’m Louisa, a mother of four, a full-time worker, a master’s student in economic crime, and a lifelong advocate for inclusion. Right now, I’m asking for help to buy a wheelchair that will give me back my independence, dignity, and ability to keep showing up for my family and my work.

<div>Earlier this year, I had spinal surgery (a discectomy and decompression at L5/S1) after developing cauda equina syndrome. I worked hard to regain mobility, but in November, things began to deteriorate. A new MRI showed scar tissue and cysts at the surgical site. Despite this, I was told it’s “not clinically significant.” Instead of support, I’ve been left in limbo, offered only painkillers and silence.

<div>I’m now struggling to walk, and the NHS wheelchair I’ve been given is too heavy for me to self propel. I have bulging discs in my neck that weaken my arms, and using this chair only makes things worse. I’ve applied to Access to Work, but the wait for assessment is nearly a year. I can’t wait that long.

<div>I’m raising £6,100 to purchase a Quickie Nitrum wheelchair and an Empulse F55 power assist. This setup would allow me to move independently, safely, and with far less pain, indoors, outdoors, at work, and with my children.
