Restore hope for Kay and Karla

Donation protected
There are some people that inspire us all to keep going and to never give up. They teach us by example to live our lives with grace and kindness no matter what the situation may be.

Kay Billingsley is one of those people!

Kay has been confined to a wheelchair since 1978 after a horrible unsolved home invasion. At the time, a single mom with 2 children under the age of 10, she never considered giving up the fight .
Since this terrible tragedy, she has proven that if you have a positive outlook, willing to work hard, have Faith and a grateful heart you can live a blessed life. She is a true inspiration to those around her.

She has for the last 18 years been taking care of her younger sister Karla who lost her husband and has a severly debilitating form of MS.

Now that she has finally retired, she would like nothing more than to move her and Karla to Nebraska to live on her daughter Kathy and son in law Taylor’s ranch.

With her limited Life savings budget already tight...plans were moving forward and she was able to find an old delapidated trailer house to bring up to the ranch. With big hopes of being able to put more time than money to make it a nice retirement home.

Then the Tornado hit— literally ripping trees up by the roots and stripping the roof off of her recently placed home — All while she sat In her daughters 100 year old farmhouse across the way watching the devastation.

The contractor that was hired to replace the roof took her money and did not complete the job. Leaving the house more vulnerable to storms and damage than it was to begin with. The damage and delays caused broken water pipes and interior damage that now have to be addressed in addition to the original repairs before it is livable.

She found a new contractor with a huge heart that was willing to take on the mess the other guy had made and try to make the best of it. Building has been slow and steady and not without problems.

In order for us to make this dream come true we need to transform an old, outdated mobile home into a safe, comfortable wheel chair accessible home. Work has already been started but there is still much to do! Kay has already put much of her own hard earned money into making this dream a reality - her entire life savings to be exact. However, as we all know materials and labor do not come cheap, not to mention the unfortunate set backs that have occurred as well!

Making Kay’s dream a reality has been much more difficult than anyone could have imagined. There is no plumbing or running water— a ramp and deck to get into the house—roof has not been completed- and building is not water tight.

She had sold her other home with plans to move in last Fall and it has been a year so they are basically homeless. Having to stay with relatives until some sort of miracle happens and their new home can be finished.

Unfortunately now she has run out of money to finish.

She is always helping others and now it’s time for others to help her!

That’s why we are asking you - friends, family, and strangers alike to please help us in making this special woman’s dreams come true!

Any contribution to her cause is appreciated no matter how large or small!!! Please, Please share this link in your email, text, twitter and Facebook accounts to get the word out
