<div>Tonight, on October 31, my mother faced an unbelievable loss. Her home, the place where she shared countless memories and found rest while serving her community, was lost in a tragic fire. She has given so much of herself over the years, not only as a veteran and volunteer firefighter but as a dedicated teacher and bus driver, shaping lives and creating safe spaces for others. Now, we’re hoping to help her rebuild hers.

<div>With 21 years of honorable service in the South Dakota National Guard (SDNG), my mother has embodied commitment and resilience. During her time with the SDNG, she worked tirelessly, serving our state and country with honor. Even after her military service, she has continued to serve and protect others as a volunteer firefighter with the Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department (VFD). She’s fought numerous grass and structure fires, risking her own safety to save lives and properties. And now, despite her bravery on the front lines of many fires, she finds herself on the other side of this tragedy, needing help to rebuild.

<div>In addition to her role as a firefighter, my mother has devoted years to the Todd County School District as a paraeducator and bus driver at Rosebud Elementary. She has guided and inspired countless young minds, working tirelessly to ensure that her students receive the education and care they deserve.

<div>This fire has destroyed everything she’s worked for. Now, she faces the daunting challenge of rebuilding, starting over with nothing. She needs the support of friends, family, and the community. The funds raised through this campaign will help cover essential costs, from temporary shelter to replacing basic necessities and, eventually, rebuilding her home.

<div>My mom has always prioritized others—whether on the front lines of fires, in the classroom, or behind the wheel of a school bus. She’s a giver, and now, in her time of need, I’m asking for the kindness and generosity of others to help this incredible woman get back on her feet.
