Hello. All. My name is Danielle morales. I’m 42 and am a deaf-blind wheelchair user for the past 7 years. My main mode of transportation is my quantum q6 edge 2.0 power electric wheelchair. I use a white cane for the blind as well while I travel outside. My chair is basically my “car” in a sense. I cannot hear or see traffic but I can see some colors and shadows and shapes but most things I don’t see normally with my congenital conditions. I have spinal cerebellar ataxia type 3. I use special glasses and hearing aids which are my adaptive devices and my power wheelchair is my freedom to go anywhere I wish to as long as it’s accessible. I was just in a motor vehicle accident yesterday July 31st. A massive deisel truck wasn’t watching where they were going and they ran into me on my front left side of my chair cause me to tip over on to the ground causing damage to me and to my chair. I can’t drive my chair now because the wheel and axel is bent out of alignment I’m now recovering but am now traumatized by this and am in great pain. I’ll heal eventually but I’ll never feel safe again. I have no idea how or when my chair will be fixed. I’m basically stuck inside at home for the time being. This lack of independence will be hard to take as I’m used to driving all over town in my chair. If there any thing anyone can donate toward the repair costs to the chair I would be forever grateful even just a few dollars goes a long way. With your help I might be able to get my chair repaired sooner than later and get back to my active outdoor lifestyle and freedom again. Thanks for your time and have a blessed day everyone.
